To Qutb, sociopolitical conducts derive from the relationship of belief to society. He compared the Islamic view of the relation of religion to the state with that of Christianity. In this regard, he writes:
Christianity left âwhat is Caesarâs to Caesar and what is Godâs to Godâ and directed itself entirely to spiritual purification and inward discipline, and shaped itself on the basis that religion is âa relationship between man and the Lordâ and that law is a relationship between the individual and the state.314
